Born into a military family in Wiesbaden, Germany, Charlie Pierce grew up on Fort Benning Army Base in Columbus, Georgia. At the age of 17, his mom made the decision to move he and his two sisters to Anchorage, Alaska where he graduated from Bartlett High School in 1977.
